    Research and experimental development comprise creative and systematic work undertaken in order to increase the stock of knowledge – including knowledge of humankind, culture and society – and to devise new applications of available knowledge (the questionnaires: PNT-01, PNT-01/s, PNT-01/a).
  • Subgroup description
    Employment in R&D - indices: All persons associated with R&D activity, both researchers and supporting staff. To the persons employed directly on R&D activity are treated persons who spending at least 10 per cent of their normal work time. Data in division of FTE sectors. FTE - full time equivalents - calculating units used to establish the actual time spent on research and development work. One full - time equivalent equals one person - year spent exclusively on R&D.
