PKD is based on NACE - the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, which was established by the Council Regulation
No 3037/90 of October 9th, 1990 (OJ No L 293 of Oct. 24th 1990) and amended later by the Commission Regulation (EEC) No 761/93 of March 24th, 1993 (OJ No L 83 of 03.04.1993)
and No 29/2002 of December 19th 2001 (OJ No L 6 of 10.01.2002).
PKD-2004 is fully methodologically, conceptually, in the scope and coding system coherent and comparable with the classification NACE Revision 1.1.
PKD is the classification which hierarchically systematized division of the kinds of social-economic activities that are carried out by units (economic subjects).
According to the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of December 24th, 2007 regarding Polish Classification of Activities (PKD),
the PKD 2004 is applied to activities listed therein prior to the day when this Regulation becomes binding, but not beyond December 31st, 2009.
