Both the census of population and housing, and the agricultural census, are obligatory surveys, conducted pursuant to Act of censuses. At the same time, they are largest statistical undertakings implemented not only in Poland and globally. The implementation of such projects requires full mobilisation on the part citizens and the State. Censuses constitute important moments in the life of nation, as when the State asks its citizens “how many of us are there?”, “who are we?” or “how do we live?”, as well as enquires about major information related to the functioning of society. According to international organisations, censuses belong to the greatest organisational undertakings which mobilise whole nations in times of peace. They should be governed by the idea of professional achievement, which significance to the way citizens perceive their state.

The land data are listed by land use types. Land use is understood as actual land management. The presented information concerns agricultural crop and animal production. The data about sown area refer to the harvested area of respective crops cultivated in the main crop. The forestry data are presented according to the following division: private forests, public forests: municipal forests, and forests owned by the State Treasury, including forests managed by State Forests. Forestlands include forest areas as well as land connected with silviculture.

By the term school we mean an organizational entity created - on the basis of a charter or a record in the register - by an administrative body, a local self-governing body, a legal or private person on the basis of regulations of the appropriate Education System Act. A school conducts training of a specific kind and on a particular level and has a status conferred by an entity or the headperson, specifying, among others, its name, type, the governing authority and its internal organisation.
Schools can be public, non-public with the status of a public school, and non-public, other establishments of the system of education are public or private.
Appropriate ministers and local self-governing bodies (gminas, powiats and voivodships) can establish and run only public schools. Primary schools and lower secondary schools can be only public, or non-public with the status of a public school, if they implement the minimum programme as well as apply the principles of classifying and promoting pupils and students, as established by the minister responsible for national education, permitting students to obtain official certificates or diplomas.
Compulsory education obligation in Poland is fulfilled by attending primary and lower secondary schools.
Schools for adults (in this schools the organisation of education is different) are designed for candidates who are 18 years old or turn 18 in the calendar year, in which they are about to begin education.
Since 2014, students and graduates have been classified according to narrow fields of education, specified in the Classification of Fields of Education and Training ISCED – F 2013.

Entities entered (since 1999 in the KRUPGN register) according to sectors system (public and private sector) as well as according to NACE classification: until 1999 - European, since 2000 - Polish /by private and public sector/. Excluding persons tending private farms in agriculture.
