  • Category description
    Information regarding shops and petrol station are compiled on the basis of reporting. For entities employing up to 9 persons in 2004 the data have been generalized on the basis of the result of sample survey conducted on a 5% of these entities. Until 2003, the data were compiled on the basis of the register. The data for 2003 are presented in conditions comparable with 2004. Information about marketplaces /permanent and seasonal/ is based on the report SG-01, part 3. Wholesale and retail sales is covered in the report H-01s.

    Up to 2016 data was derived from Statistics Poland data. Since 2017, data on higher education institutions, excluding the data on some higher education institutions (HEIs) run by churches and other religious associations, has been compiled on the basis of POL-on, the Integrated System of Information on Science and Higher Education, administered by the Ministry of Education and Science. Until 2011 excluding the schools of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration; starting from 2012 including the schools of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration; data are presented by actual location of a high school branch from 2012 without a non-resident branch of Polish universities abroad, which were previously reported at the seat of the home university. Until 2009 without the foreigner students, from 2010, including foreigners.

    Information presented since 2019 in connection with the introduction of a new typology of institutions of the higher education and science system. Students of doctoral studies including foreigners. Doctoral programmes – third-cycle programmes preparing for a doctoral degree, open to holders of a second-cycle qualification and leading upon successful completion to the award of a third-cycle qualification conferred by an authorised academic unit of a higher education institution, scientific institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a research institute or an international scientific institute established under separate legislation and active on territory of the Republic of Poland.
