    Data within the CULTURE section concern state and local government cultural institutions and other entities organising and conducting cultural activities: stage (dramatic theatres, puppet theatres, music theatres, philharmonics, symphony and chamber orchestras, choirs, song and dance ensembles, stage enterprises) and other entities: museums, libraries (public, scientific, pedagogical, professional and others), art galleries and centres of culture, cultural centres and establishments, clubs and community centres, as well as cinemas. The data comes from reports with the symbol K. Data on the organisation of mass events provided by local government units at the gmina level competent for the location where the mass event was held and data on publishing production are also available.

    Up to 2016 data was derived from Statistics Poland data. Since 2017, data on higher education institutions, excluding the data on some higher education institutions (HEIs) run by churches and other religious associations, has been compiled on the basis of POL-on, the Integrated System of Information on Science and Higher Education, administered by the Ministry of Education and Science. Until 2011 excluding the schools of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration; starting from 2012 including the schools of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration; data are presented by actual location of a high school branch from 2012 without a non-resident branch of Polish universities abroad, which were previously reported at the seat of the home university. Until 2009 without the foreigner students, from 2010, including foreigners.
