  • Subgroup description
The employed included all persons aged 15 years and over who, during the survey week of 25-31 March 2021: - performed work for at least 1 hour that resulted in earnings or income; - did not perform work, but formally had work, and the temporary reason for not performing work was, for example, their own illness, vacation or child care leave. Status of employment includes the division of workers into the following categories: employees (employed), self-employed persons and employed persons working in another capacity. The employees are: - persons employed under an employment relationship or a civil law contract and apprentices and interns who were paid for their work; - persons who work as contractors (also known as homeworkers); - persons employed on a family farm or in a family business outside agriculture and at the same time receiving a fixed income or earnings (not necessarily in the form of money) for their work. Self-employed are: - owners, co-owners or lessees of an individual agricultural holding who work on the holding; - individuals who are self-employed outside of agriculture (registered or unregistered); - agents in all agency systems; - persons who, on the basis of an agreement with the employer, registered their own business as a one-person economic entity. Self-employed include both employers (self-employed persons who were employed at least 1 paid worker during the survey week) and self-employed without employees (own-account workers). The remaining employed persons (not classified in the other categories listed) and contributing family workers are included in the group of employed persons working in another capacity. 'Total' item including undetermined employment status.
