    Up to 2016 data was derived from Statistics Poland data. Since 2017, data on higher education institutions, excluding the data on some higher education institutions (HEIs) run by churches and other religious associations, has been compiled on the basis of POL-on, the Integrated System of Information on Science and Higher Education, administered by the Ministry of Education and Science. Higher education – data up to 2011 do not include higher education institutions of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration; data are presented by actual location of higher education institutions/branches (from 2012, excluding the Polish HEIs’ international branch campuses which were previously reported at the HEI’s registered address. Data include public and non-public higher education institutions (referred to as state and non-state higher schools until the academic year 2004/2005).

    Academic teachers in total for data for 1999 and 2000 are presented as full-time employees in full-time in more than one school, in every place of work by parent unit. Academic teachers in total for data from 2001are presented as full-time employees and employees not working in full-time in more than one school, in every place of work by parent unit; Women academic teachers for data from 1999 to 2006 are presented as full-time employees in more than one schools, in every place of work by the parent unit, since 2007 full-time employees and employees not working in full-time in terms of time jobs.
