  • Category description
    Up to 2016 data was derived from Statistics Poland data. Since 2017, data on higher education institutions, excluding the data on some higher education institutions (HEIs) run by churches and other religious associations, has been compiled on the basis of POL-on, the Integrated System of Information on Science and Higher Education, administered by the Ministry of Education and Science. Higher education – data up to 2011 do not include higher education institutions of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration; data are presented by actual location of higher education institutions/branches (from 2012, excluding the Polish HEIs’ international branch campuses which were previously reported at the HEI’s registered address. Data include public and non-public higher education institutions (referred to as state and non-state higher schools until the academic year 2004/2005).

Units of local government shall perform their duties through constitutive and executive organs. 2. Elections to constitutive organs shall be universal, direct, equal and shall be conducted by secret ballot. The principles and procedures for submitting candidates and for the conduct of elections, as well as the requirements for the validity of elections, shall be specified by statute. 3. The principles and procedures for the election and dismissal of executive organs of units of local government shall be specified by statute. 4. The internal organizational structure of units of local government shall be specified, within statutory limits, by their constitutive organs.
