Regional accounts data concerning income in the households sector for the years 2020-2022 have been revised compared to those previously published, due to revision in balance of payments statistics. Macroeconomic categories calculated in the regional accounts are compiled according to the principles of the national accounts system as well as recommendations of the “The European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010)”, introduced by Regulation (EU) No 549/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) of 21 May 2013 on the European system of national and regional accounts in the European Union (Official Journal of the EU L 174, 26 June 2013, as amended). Data by kind of activity were calculated in accordance with the Polish Classification of Activities – PKD 2007, compiled on the basis of the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community - NACE Rev. 2. The following accounts are compiled in the regional accounts system for each region: the production account and the generation of income account by institutional sectors and kind of activity as well as the allocation of primary income account and the secondary distribution of income account in the households sector. The following categories are calculated for subregions: gross domestic product (GDP) and gross value added (GVA) by kind of activity groups. When computing particular macroeconomic categories per capita for the years 2010-2023, population meeting the residence criterion was adopted as defined in the European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010), which assumes a person’s stay in the economic territory of a given country for one year or more. Resident population figures from 2022 include data on the Ukrainian population. For calculations per capita, the population as of 30 June was adopted, compiled: for the years 2000-2008 on the basis of the results of the Population and Housing Census 2002, for the years 2009-2019 (in case of indices – for the years 2010-2020) on the basis of the results of the Population and Housing Census 2011, from 2020 (in case of indices – from 2021) on the basis of the results of the Population and Housing Census 2021. For computing per employed person – annual average number of employed persons was applied, calculated starting from the year 2020 on the basis of average number of employed persons in the national economy compiled on the basis of 2020 Agricultural Census results. Due to rounding of data, in some cases the sum of the components may be slightly different from total values. Note concerning data in regions’ breakdown (NUTS 2) and subregions’ breakdown (NUTS 3): Comparable data on gross value added per employed person for the years 2000-2001 are missing.

The employed included all persons aged 15 years and over who, during the survey week of 25-31 March 2021: - performed work for at least 1 hour that resulted in earnings or income; - did not perform work, but formally had work, and the temporary reason for not performing work was, for example, their own illness, vacation or child care leave. Status of employment includes the division of workers into the following categories: employees (employed), self-employed persons and employed persons working in another capacity. The employees are: - persons employed under an employment relationship or a civil law contract and apprentices and interns who were paid for their work; - persons who work as contractors (also known as homeworkers); - persons employed on a family farm or in a family business outside agriculture and at the same time receiving a fixed income or earnings (not necessarily in the form of money) for their work. Self-employed are: - owners, co-owners or lessees of an individual agricultural holding who work on the holding; - individuals who are self-employed outside of agriculture (registered or unregistered); - agents in all agency systems; - persons who, on the basis of an agreement with the employer, registered their own business as a one-person economic entity. Self-employed include both employers (self-employed persons who were employed at least 1 paid worker during the survey week) and self-employed without employees (own-account workers). The remaining employed persons (not classified in the other categories listed) and contributing family workers are included in the group of employed persons working in another capacity. 'Total' item including undetermined employment status.
