cattle - cows | Cows include dairy cows and suckling cows. Dairy cows are understood as cows which on account of a breed, species or particular qualities are kept in a holding only or mainly for the production of milk to be consumed or processed into dairy products. Dairy cows rejected from breeding, which are kept in a holding for the so called pre-slaughter pasturing, after which they are sent to slaughter, are also included here. Suckling cows are understood as cows which on account of breed (beef cows and cows born from a cross-breed with beef races) or particular qualities are kept in a holding only or mainly for calves for slaughter, and whose milk is used to feed calves or other animals. Suckling cows rejected from breeding, which are kept in a holding for the so called preslaughter pasturing, after which they are sent to slaughter, are also included here. |
